Because All Things Are Possible with God

At El Cuenco, we focus on five primary areas: nutrition, education, health, medical, and small economic development projects. These five areas form an integrated network that fosters community development.

Serving others as a vessel of Christ

El Cuenco (The Vessel) was established in 1997 as a 501-c3 with the goal of improving the lives of impoverished people in the developing world. We work specifically in several rural, impoverished villages in Central American Countries as well as provide financial aid for supplies in other developing countries such as Guatemala, Ghana, and Haiti.
El Cuenco desires to be the hands and feet of Jesus and serve those who are underserved with the love of Christ. We believe that God is our provider and has called us to share the provision with others in need of aid.

“Happy is the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them. He remains faithful forever, executing justice for the exploited and giving food to the hungry. The Lord frees prisoners. The Lord raises up those who are oppressed.” Psalms 146: 5-7

Your support makes a difference.

The term, “El Cuenco”, meaning vessel or three-legged bowl, refers to the earthen bowls that are used to carry water in El Salvador. It Illustrates the complementary forces of fragility and strength and the opposing forces of nurturing and abandonment. We are aware, as human beings, that we have the capacity to fill the vessel with abundant grains and joy or neglect its capacity to impart change. God calls us to serve and provide for those who are in vulnerable situations. Please consider supporting our work through prayer and/or financial aid so that we can continue to share the love of Christ and meet physical needs of those around us.

“If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him-how does God’s love reside in him? Little children, let us not love the world in word or speech, but in action and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18

We are able to provide fruit trees to community members from donations.

And the King will say...

“I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these,
my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

– Matthew 25:40 (NLT)

Where & How do we serve?

Our current projects are based in El Salvador, Honduras, and Ghana where we have partners on the ground that allow for sustainable interventions in the communities. We also support other non-profits in Guatemala and Haiti that align with our mission and work in areas of nutrition in underserved communities. Our team serves in many ways. Primarily, we desire to share the love of Jesus Christ to others through serving in tangible ways and demonstrating His love and faithfulness to the world. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to provide for the following types of projects:

  • Clothing/hygiene supply distribution
  • Food basket distribution
  • Building of homes and community buildings such as churches
  • Funding for long term nutrition projects
  • Funding for emergency medical interventions
  • Ongoing nutrition support for those diagnosed with malnutrition
  • Bible distribution
  • Education funding/sponsorship for children
  • Business/project development for locals
  • Malnutrition and on-site nutrition assessments and monitoring in rural communities from our nutrition team
  • Nutrition and skill development workshops
Over the years, God has continued to provide many people and resources. We believe He will continue to work through us as sons and daughters of Christ. If you would like to see more photos of current projects and hear more stories, you can follow us on social media.
